“Feels back to Japan”

Since we want to feel the experience of traveling (take MRT, walking, eating, and of course shopping), we decide to have a little adventure! So we prepare our e-money, drove our car and park in Plaza Indonesia. From there it’s really close to MRT Station (Bundaran HI). Bundaran HI to Blok M takes about 16 minutes (7 stops) and price is 8,000 IDR for one-way trip. Tapping the e-money not as smooth as our thought, still a bit lagging and many people queuing.

From Blok M – MRT Station, it’s just a short walk to MOS Cafe Melawai. Only around 3min or 260m, also we realized the pedestrian already wheelchair accessible. MOS Cafe Melawai located at the second floor of Papaya Fresh Gallery, sadly no elevator so we must take up the stairs. Around 11:30 AM we arrived at MOS Cafe Melawai, still not so many people because before the lunch time.

We ordered: Chicken Nanban Burger, Spicy MOS Cheese Burger Charcoal, Fish Burger. We then ordered Corn Soup for Emma, the waitress ask if we want to upgrade from Ala Carte to Package already include corn soup and Green Tea. So we take that offer. Approximately 15 minutes, the corn soup was ready. Emma really likes it, she said it was one of the best corn soup she ever had. Then 5 minutes later, the main dish was served.

Chicken Nanban Burger (45,450 IDR + tax 10% = 50,000 IDR) – immediately caught our eyes are the bun is so soft. The chicken is crispy outside yet juicy and tender inside, oh my I’m already craving for more. The veggies also fresh, the sweet and sour sauce, everything in the burger complements each other. Perfectly delicious, straight ten out of ten!

Fish Burger (35,450 IDR + tax 10% = 39,000 IDR) upgrade to Set Cornsoup (extra 36,360 IDR + tax 10% = 40,000 IDR) – is a safe choice. Last time we ate here, Emma also likes this Fish Burger. So we just repeat order, and Emma chomp it. The fish is crispy outside and soft inside, also there is a cheese slice and mayonnaise sauce makes more flavorful not plain taste. We likes it, recommended when we want some food with a mild taste.

Spicy MOS Chicken Burger Charcoal (57,270 IDR + tax 10% = 63,000 IDR) – is the opposite of Fish Burger. If we want to eat something spicy, something bold, this is the one. Well, we don’t really taste the difference between ordinary bun and charcoal bun. The spicy sauce is spicier than we thought, but we still can handle it. There is also cheese and pickles, to make the burger taste more flavorful.

Now, more and more customers are coming for dine-in. Mainly are Japanese customers, alone or with Indonesian friends. After we finished eating, we paid and continue to shopping at Daiso. Mostly at Daiso all items are 30,000 IDR, but some items are more expensive. Many things here are for pet grooming and households (sewing kits, cooking utensils, etc), hmm interesting so maybe many Japanese family bought their household here.

After purchased so many things at Daiso, we put them in our shopping bag that we brought from home. We brought 2 big shopping bag, fold-able and store them in my backpack. Now, only 1 big shopping bag is waiting to be filled at Papaya Fresh Gallery. Go down the stairs, pick our trolley and enter the groceries. From entrance, on our right side there are fresh fish section. They sell sashimi and sushi, also a label said that before closing hour they will sell at discounted price.

We bought mochis with various fillings: chocolate, strawberry, and red bean. There are also discounted instant noodles from Hokkaido, with expiry date less than a month. We want to buy fresh fish, but since we will take MRT so maybe next time. So, our shoppings are: mochis, instant noodles, imported snacks, bottled green teas, onigiris (they sell unagi filling here), fresh bread (there is a cake and pastry so fresh bakery everyday), and beers. Another couple next to us saying, “Feels like back to Japan”.

Already fulfilled our shopping appetite, we take MRT from Blok M Station to Bundaran HI Station. One-way trip also 8,000 IDR. Bundaran HI Station more crowded because it’s the last and first station, so we need to line up a little bit in the payment gate. Agnes e-money not get deducted, and we must talk to the staff for a re-tapping. We walk to the exit, notice there still a band that singing inside the station. It turns out that all the bands personnel are blind , wow.

Back to our car, we munch our first mochi and onigiri. Then, we cleanse our palate with the bottled green tea. Phew, that feels good. Really feels back to Japan, or another adventure where we take public transportation, stroll around, buy snacks and souvenirs, finally sat down to submerge this moment. Well, of course we lack the Japan atmosphere: how neat and detail they are, the omotenashi, the crowdness, etc. But still, it’s okay compare to our regular activities.

On our way home, Emma said she still didn’t want to go home yet. Because it’s still around 3:30 PM, we decide to park our car and strolling at Taman Suropati. Last time we went here, still on PPKM situation. Not so many people, and they have this cone and yellow line to keep people from entering. Now, we are free to enter and so many people. There is also a public toilet near musholla, we need to pay a small amount for maintenance fee.

There are two fountains on each side and will be turn on every hour, there are also pigeon homes. Overall Taman Suropati is a nice and fun public place for friends and families, of course the facilities need to be more maintained such as the book corner. Are you a reptile lover? Sometimes a reptile community come here to talk about their hobby and we can pet some snake or iguana. Or, just come here to enjoy some live music from street musician.
