Exploring the Beauty of Tomohon: A Day Trip to Kai’santi Flower Garden, Tetetana Kumelembuai, and Pagoda Ekayana

We start our today trip to Kai’santi Flower Garden, only around 30minutes by car from Yama Resort Tondano. We already had our breakfast, so we start our journey around 10AM. We paid IDR 15,000 per person and the ticket is just like handwritten to a blank paper, we asked whether is it include free coffee or tea? He said no, formerly it was IDR 25,000 include free coffee or tea, but now they only IDR 15,000 but just for entrance fee.

Pass the entrance, a long stairway in front of us. This place really not suitable for elder, stroller, or wheelchair. But after we climb the stairs, a beautiful view awaits. Here they have swings, from normal swings to extreme swings. Also a place where we can rest, beanbags and chairs to enjoy the scene. They also have a canteen, but we did not go there. Because this place full of flowers, we can meet many bees and butterflies. We can see beautiful flower garden, paddy field, with Mount Lokon as background!

Spent an hour here, then it’s got really hot sunny day. We decide to take a break and having lunch at Green Garden, is a Chinese Restaurant. We already ate long time ago in their main branch in Manado, but here in Tomohon famous for their view of Mount Lokon. Unfortunately when we arrived, that table already occupied. So not all the restaurant area have the Mount Lokon view, only at the second floor.

We ordered pork fried rice, corn soup, meatball noodle, cap cay, and chicken rice to share together. As for dessert, I ordered ice shaved red bean. The order take so long to came out, not recommended for someone in hurry or very hungry. Finally beverages came out, it taste good though. The ice so refreshing in this hot sunny day, also the sweet from red bean replenish our energy. They also baked some bread, we try their chocolate cheese bread fresh from the oven. Sweet!

After lunch, we drove to Tetetana Kumelembuai, around 35 minutes from Green Garden. Actually our first itineraries are Makatete Hills and dinner in Malalayang Beach Walk, but because Emma got overheat from playing outside in Kai’santi Flower Garden we decide to go some chilly place. Self reminder: don’t forget a simple medicine like paracetamol, it really helps us a lot. On our way there, Emma sleeps in the car.

The road to get there was very bumpy, and so steep. But after we arrived, the parking area very spacious. We paid IDR 25K for entrance ticket, also include coffee or tea. This place was soo big, wide field and also flower garden. Emma still sleeps, so we wait in the car. It was sunny, and we can see clearly. Almost 3 PM, Emma finally awake. We can still take a few pictures before the dew came, sad but also mysterious atmosphere.

Because we can’t see anything, we took shelter in the canteen. So crowded here, and we tried to redeem our free coffee and tea. We want to bought their snacks but apparently the queue line was long since many of their staff still on leave so they are short handed, while waiting I just realized that the ticket is pretty and show off the various of their flowers. Finally our turn, I want a cup of coffee milk. But they only provide black coffee and tea, turns out the coffee already very sweet.

From Tetetana we don’t have plan anymore, only for dinner. But my brother said there is a famous Pagoda, it’s official name from Google Maps is Pagoda Ekayana. When we arrived there, it’s already 5:30 PM. The Pagoda already closed, but we can still strolling around the Pagoda area. The entrance fee is IDR 10K, but I didn’t know if we paid or not because we stay at the car with Emma sleeping.

After a while, I really need to take a pee. Turns out this Pagoda has very peaceful atmosphere and beautiful scenery, we can see Mount Lokon in the background as well. Loves this journey, we have unexpected destination but became a really sweet memento. From here, we went for grilled fish dinner around Tondano Lake. Firstly we want to eat at Resto Pemandangan Tondano, but apparently their fish already sold out so we went for Astomi.

Astomi Restaurant also a grilled fish specialty, with sambal for those who loved spicy food or just eat it with soy sauce if can’t handle spicy food. The food was superb but again, service was very slow. What a long day, thankfully Emma got better. We called it a day, and spend the night rest at the resort. Tomorrow we’ll checkout, and continue our journey to Kotamobagu. We still not sure if we’ll stopped at Jiko Beach or not, depend on Emma’s condition.
